Save Water Daily operates as an independent editorial publication. The principles below shape what we publish, how we publish it, and what we won’t do.
Independence
We are not owned by, affiliated with, or financially dependent on any company, product manufacturer, or industry group. Our writing is independent of commercial pressure and product placement.
Specifically:
- We do not accept sponsored content
- We do not run native advertising disguised as editorial
- We do not accept payment for product mentions or recommendations
- We do not give product manufacturers approval rights over our coverage
How we choose topics
Articles emerge from three sources:
- Direct household experience. Writers’ own water-conservation practice, observed over years.
- Reader questions. Topics that come up in contact form messages and email correspondence.
- Research and observation. Conversations with horticulturists, plumbers, landscape designers, and water utility staff.
We choose topics based on usefulness to a thoughtful home reader, not based on what’s trending or what attracts traffic.
Research standards
Our articles include specific numbers, ranges, and claims. We try to:
- Use ranges rather than false-precision single numbers
- Cite primary sources when discussing technical specifications
- Verify product claims with multiple sources where possible
- Update articles when significant information changes
- Acknowledge uncertainty when relevant
Voice and tone
We write in a deliberately understated register. The goal is information that’s clear, warm, and trustworthy, without the urgent-crisis tone common in environmental writing.
We try to:
- Treat readers as intelligent adults capable of evaluating information
- Use specific examples rather than abstract appeals
- Acknowledge trade-offs honestly
- Avoid moralizing or shaming
- Provide context for our recommendations
What we won’t write
- Articles designed primarily to drive product sales
- Catastrophic or apocalyptic framings designed to generate fear
- Personal attacks on individuals or organizations
- Content that misleads readers about technical specifications or environmental impact
- Pieces that pretend to be editorial but are actually advertising
Corrections
If you find an error in our content, whether factual, technical, or otherwise, please let us know at [email protected]. We’ll review and correct as appropriate, with a note acknowledging the change.
Updates over time
Articles age. Technologies change, regulations update, and best practices evolve. We periodically review older articles and update them when needed. Updates are noted in the article itself.
Reader contributions
We welcome story pitches, case studies from readers’ own households, and feedback on specific articles. While we can’t publish every submission, every message is read and considered.
Privacy of sources
When we mention specific household situations or experiences, we protect the privacy of individuals involved. Names, locations, and identifying details are generally changed unless the source has explicitly consented to attribution.
