Save Water Daily isn’t currently a discussion-focused community in the traditional sense (we don’t run open comment sections or forums). But we do have ongoing interaction with readers through email, our newsletter, and occasional editorial collaborations. These guidelines apply to those interactions.
What we ask of readers
When you contact us, contribute to discussions, or interact with Save Water Daily in any capacity, please:
- Be respectful. We respond to thoughtful messages even when we disagree. We don’t engage with abuse, harassment, or personal attacks.
- Be honest. If you’re sharing your household experience, share it accurately. If you’re asking a question, share enough context for us to give a useful answer.
- Be patient. We read every message but can’t always respond immediately. Most replies happen within 1-2 business days; some take longer.
- Be specific. Vague questions (“what should I do about water?”) are harder to answer than specific ones (“I’m in a rental in the Pacific Northwest and want to start with conservation – what are my options?”).
How we approach interactions
From our side:
- We read every message we receive
- We don’t share or sell contact information
- We don’t add you to lists without your explicit consent
- We try to answer questions usefully, even if we can’t write a full article
- We acknowledge corrections and update articles when readers catch errors
Topics we engage with
We’re happy to discuss:
- Specific water conservation questions about your home
- Article ideas and topic suggestions
- Corrections to existing articles
- Story pitches and case study contributions
- General feedback on our writing or coverage
Topics we don’t engage with
We typically don’t respond to:
- Marketing pitches for products we should “review”
- Requests for free advertising or backlinks
- SEO-focused outreach for unrelated content
- Generic guest post submissions
- Spam or automated outreach
If you’re contributing content
We occasionally publish reader contributions, case studies of households implementing conservation practices, profiles of unusual systems, or perspectives from professionals in related fields. If you’re contributing:
- Share your real experience, not a sales pitch
- Provide specifics (numbers, photos when relevant, timelines)
- Be open to editorial review and revision
- Disclose any financial or professional interests
Photo submissions
If you submit photos of your home, garden, or conservation project:
- Confirm you have rights to the photos
- Understand we may edit or crop for editorial fit
- Let us know if you’d prefer attribution or anonymity
Public conversations
If we mention you or your household in an article (with permission), we’ll typically use a first name and general location, omitting specifics that could identify you to neighbors or family members. If you’d prefer full anonymity, we honor that.
Reader feedback
We genuinely welcome feedback, whether positive, critical, or correctional. Email is the best channel. We read everything; we can’t always respond personally, but we factor reader input into editorial decisions.
Disagreements
Sometimes readers disagree with our recommendations. That’s fine. We don’t claim to have the final word on any conservation topic, and we welcome thoughtful pushback. Where we believe we’re right, we’ll explain why. Where we’ve gotten something wrong, we’ll update.
